Women’s pockets tend to be either smaller than men’s or not exist in general.  On average, the pockets in women’s jeans are 48% shorter and 6.5% narrower than men’s pockets.
When going out, most dresses lack pockets and jeans can't fit everything, so women often carry bags. This limits movement and risks misplacement or theft. A corset, however, is a fashionable item that can double as secure storage.
By conducting a survey of 20 young women and asking them what the top 3 things they carry on a night out are, a list of necessities was compiled. The most frequent ones represent the base for the corset pockets, as shown in the sketch.
User testing various prototypes ensured the design met user comfort and needs. Prototype I, a traditional corset, lacked pockets. Prototype II confirmed pocket positions but needed shape improvement, especially for the phone pocket. Prototype III was functional but needed aesthetic enhancement.
The final product, the Pockets! Corset, has 5 pockets meant for essentials when going out.
